GOG well-deserved winners of first EHF Youth Club Trophy

Danish club GOG took the debut title in the EHF’s new competition for under-18 men’s club teams, the Youth Club Trophy, beating Veszprém Handball Academy 37:28 at the LANXESS arena in Cologne.

A total of 16 youth teams from across Europe participated in the new competition, playing four qualification tournaments before the winners — GOG, Veszprém, HC Eurofarm Pelister and Barça — progressed to the semi-finals. These were held at the TSV Bayer Sportcenter on the same weekend as the TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4, with the final taking place before the last day of the top-tier European club competition.

GOG won their semi-final easily against Pelister, while Barça and Veszprém had to play overtime, with the Hungarian club winning four seconds before the end, to decide who would progress to the final. But there, GOG proved too strong to claim the title. Barça beat Pelister 55:28 in the third-place match.
