Slovakia win historic gold at Women's 17 EHF EURO
Slovakia took their first gold medal in any women’s competitions by defeating Croatia in a second-half masterclass at the Women’s 17 EHF EURO 2025.
For both sides, it was the first final of a women’s competition; Slovakia started their journey to the
Women's 17 EHF EURO from the qualification round, where they won all three games to qualify for the final tournament.
Slovakia took the lead just before the break and continued to build their advantage in the second half, ultimately taking a 34:30 victory.
Montenegro clinched bronze with a 22:20 win against Spain, overturning a three-goal deficit at half-time.
The tournament was the first W17 EHF EURO featuring 24 sides. Eight countries were represented in the All-star Team, led by Montenegrin centre back and MVP Martina Knezevic. Turkish right back Gazel Dikme was the top scorer with 66 goals.
