Referee courses

The EHF ran a series of courses for referees in 2025, for both the indoor and beach handball disciplines.

For indoor handball, there were six EHF Young Referee Programme courses held across the year, with a total of 41 pairs of referees taking part.

There were also two EHF Candidate Referee courses, both held in the summer alongside the Men’s 19 EHF European Open in Sweden, and the Women’s 19 EHF Championship in Georgia. A total of 13 pairs participated in the courses, and 11 passed.

On the beach handball side, the EHF Beach Handball Candidate Referee Programme included three courses for a total of 10 pairs of referees from 10 countries. The initiative was launched to support the next generation of beach handball referees and the course included workshops, learning sessions, physical and theoretical testing and on-site officiating.

In addition, one EHF Candidate Delegate course was held in May and 17 candidates successfully completed the course.
